Guidelines

Please read all of the guidelines before nominating. If you still have a question after reading the guidelines, please email me at marauder_jen@yahoo.com and I will post the answer to your question.

Who can nominate a story?
The author, of course, can nominate his or her story. This is the easiest way to get a story nominated. The second way a story can become nominated is by a Nominator to send in the nomination. In order for a Nominator to send in a nomination, they must be able to supply the author's name, email and URL of the fanfiction in question. After the nomination is received, the entry will be put up; however, the author will be contacted to approve the nomination. If the author does not contact us within five days, the nomination will be discarded and another entry will be put in its place.

Are there any nomination limits?
Yes. When sending a nomination, you may list three categories that you would like to place one story and two alternative categories, in case the others become filled. Only choose only relevant categories to the story, please.

How many stories can be nominated per category?
Seven stories will be accepted per category. When we reach seven nominations, that category will be closed. In addition, if a category has less than three nominations, that category will be dropped and those nominated in said category will be informed.

How many stories per author can be nominated per season?
Two stories per author can be nominated per season. This includes those stories written as a team or group. Example: Grawp nominates two of his stories, and someone else nominates a story that he wrote jointly with Hagrid. The joint story would not be accepted (unless Grawp wrote to say that he would drop one of his other stories in which case the joint story could be added).

Does my story have to be finished in order to nominate? I just finished the first chapter and it's award-winning material!
In answer to the first question, no, the story does not have to be finished. In answer to the second, we request that no story is submitted until the author feels that they have reached the 40-50% completion mark.

I just wrote this amazing story. It's Harry and Draco slash but I just know that you'll love it. Now, what about that nomination stuff?
For this first season, slash will not be accepted. I know it's a very popular form of Potter fanfiction and I personally do not have a problem with it; however, this first season I am short on manpower. After we survive season one, I can guarantee that Season Two will permit slash, including categories ONLY for slash fics.

I just wrote this great story about an original character as the main character and Ron as the secondary character. Can I nominate my OC in the main character category?
This season we are looking for those characters that we are familiar with in the canon world. Next season keep an eye out for awards dealing with OC's.

What 'ratings' do you accept?
This question has just now presented a problem to us and I thought I'd address it here. We're going to 'test' the waters by allowing any stories this season. After reading through the material if we notice things that we feel uncomfortable judging we might reaccess this.

I just finished a story and want to submit it for nomination. Can you host it?
I'm sorry, but at this time we are not hosting stories. But there are many great places that will, including: FanFiction.net, Fiction Alley, and when they're accepting new writers, SugarQuill. Please note that stories can not be nominated unless they have a URL.

I have an idea for a category. Can you add it?
First off, let me say that I love new category ideas. However, each season I choose the amount of categories that I know we can handle, and nothing over. But, all suggestions are added to a list for next season.

I see there's a code section. What in the bloody hell are codes?
Codes are basically little banners you can put on your website or on the story page that when clicked, will send people to Accio FanFiction. Codes are the best way I can think of to promote this site, and to let readers know that a story is nominated here. This season, codes are not mandatory, but would be extremely appreciated. If the story is on a site where graphic codes can not be used, we have provided text codes as well.

How are the winners chosen?
For season one, the winners will ultimately be chosen by me (Jen) with input given by my personal Wizengamot council. The Wizengamot's duties include:
        a.) Reading all nominations received.
b.) Maintaining frequent contact with me.
a.) Providing constructive criticism and giving detailed reasons why you like one story the most.
